Native Soul Tribute to Clark Terry

A hard-swinging collaborative quartet, Native Soul has been a regular on the jazz album charts for over a decade. Featuring Peter Brainin (saxophone), Noah Haidu (piano), Marcus McLaurine (bass), and Steve Johns (drums), they will present a special Charlie Parker Jazz Festival tribute to swing and bebop trumpeter Clark Terry, with whom McLaurine played for more than 25 years.

“Keep on Keepin’ On” (2014)

In this film, Jazz trumpeter Clark Terry mentors blind piano prodigy Justin Kauflin as he prepares to compete in an international competition. The film features Clark Terry, Quincy Jones, Herbie Hancock, Justin Kauflin, Arturo Sandoval and is directed by Alan Hicks.

Arts, Culture & Fun: Jazz with Ray Mantilla

Join us for a live concert with Ray Mantilla, legendary conga player along with his exciting jazz and latin quartet.

Ray Mantilla has been a professional percussionist for over 60 years. He has toured the world, notably Cuba with Dizzy Gillespie and Italy every year for the past 35 years, and has played with jazz greats like Max Roach, Art Blakey, Eartha Kitt, Charles Mingus, and Freddie Hubbard, as well as most of the great latin music orchestras including Tito Puente’s. Ray has been recognized by the South Bronx Cultural Trail and the state of Connecticut. These performances feature his exciting small ensemble.
